四季彩8は、キリンソウの中でも初春の生長が早いグループに属し、１月後半から２月中旬に成長を開始する。特徴である中型厚葉がギッシリ込み合った状態で越冬する。

２月成長開始は草丈の伸長に始まり、次に紅葉が新緑葉に変化を始める。

草丈は２月後半から３月後半までの１ヵ月間に150％程度伸長する。

四季彩８の幼令株では、越冬姿は密生した中型厚葉のため、成長を始めると外側に向けて爆発する様に株が変化する。一方越冬期に越冬新芽が低密度の株では、立性草姿で成長する。

フォレストグリーン（濃緑色）葉は年間通じて一定だが、成長が旺盛な期間には緑葉に変化する事もある。

側芽発生は一部の枝に生じる事もある。

Shikisai 8 belongs to the early spring growing group among Phedimus takesimensis, and starts growing from late January to mid-February. It overwinters with its characteristic medium-sized thick leaves tightly packed together. Growth begins in February, when the plant height begins to grow, and then new green leaves begin to change. The plant height increases by about 150% in one month from late February to late March. The juvenile strains of Shikisai 8 have thick, medium-sized leaves that overwinter, so when they start growing, the strains change like they explode outward. On the other hand, plants with a low density of overwintering shoots during the overwintering period will grow as an upright plant. Forest green (dark green) leaves remain constant throughout the year, but may change to green leaves during periods of active growth. Lateral buds may occur on some branches.
