Comparing the grass appearance of Shikisai 7 and Phedimus takesimensis
Shikisai 8 is a small to medium-sized forest green (dark green) species with a fast-growing plant. After planting, the grass shape changes from spring to summer to a thick grass shape, and from summer to winter to an open form, but the thick dark green leaves do not change. Overwintering branches shed their lower leaves in midsummer, leaving about half of the leaves at the tips. At this time, the new shoots that will grow next year will grow to about 5 cm, and the appearance of the plant will not deteriorate. The stem of Shikisai 8 becomes woody, but it is smaller in size than that of Phedimus takesimensis. The woody part overwinters and ages without dying. Branches grown in the current year are less lignified. More shoots than xylem occur, but less overwintering.

The progenitor of Phedimus takesimensis is an upright type with an average height of 30 to 40 cm, sometimes reaching 50 cm. With the passage of years of growth, the stem at the base of the stock becomes woody and ages without dying. The branches grown in the current year are often woody. More sprouts than the xylem and the part where the growing branches become lignified
